Jetstar, Qantas flights resume after ash cloud disruptions
Jetstar and Qantas flights have resumed today after cancellations over the past three weeks have left thousands of passengers stranded due to the volcanic ash cloud hovering over New Zealand.
Jetstar announced this morning that it will resume all its regular scheduled New Zealand domestic and trans-Tasman services from noon today.
The ash cloud has resulted in the cancellation of over 500 New Zealand flights and disruption to tens of thousands of customers.
“We thank our customers for their patience, support and understanding during this unprecedented natural event,” said Jetstar CEO David Hall today.
“Now that full services are resuming, we are firmly focused on getting disrupted passengers safely to their destinations,” he said.
Qantas says their services have also resumed, with all domestic services operating as scheduled.
Air New Zealand has continued to operate as normal.
Civil Aviation said yesterday the ash cloud from Mt Puyehue Cordon Caulle volcano in Chile was lying just north of Wellington and was expected to clear by late today or Saturday.
