Chicken with a side of bacteria

Bacteria Flies Free

Sometimes when I eat airline food, I think Im going to die. Of course, Ive never have, Ive only wanted to after I ate it.

I try to steer clear of rubber chicken dinners in any type of banquet, wedding or airline setting, but one person who didnt is Othon Cortes. Cortes and his family flew earlier this year on American Airlines out of Barcelona, Spain. While on the international flight home, he gobbled down a chicken dinner and enjoyed the rest of his flight back to the USA.

He landed in New Yorks JFK airport, and suddenly became pale, had sharp stomach pains and became thirsty.

Velvet moments: travel photo – a winter sunset in Amsterdam

What a difference a few days make. Last weekend, I went for a long walk along the frozen canals of Amsterdam and in the countryside. There were many activities on the ice in Amsterdam a classical concert, people partying, speed-skating competitions and many others, like me, who simply went for a stroll. Today, theres hardly any sign left of those gorgeous winter scenes. I took many photos but this one is quite special: taken while I was out on a walk in the Martin Luther King park in Amsterdam.
