What a difference a few days make. Last weekend, I went for a long walk along the frozen canals of Amsterdam and in the countryside. There were many activities on the ice in Amsterdam a classical concert, people partying, speed-skating competitions and many others, like me, who simply went for a stroll. Today, theres hardly any sign left of those gorgeous winter scenes. I took many photos but this one is quite special: taken while I was out on a walk in the Martin Luther King park in Amsterdam.

Considered one of the toughest ultra marathons on the planet, runners of the Marathon des Sables travel approximately 150 miles through the rugged and arid Sahara Desert.
